I’ve been working online since: I had been managing administrative projects for several years on a volunteer basis through various organizations in my local town. I began working on line a bit over a year ago, as a Virtual Assistant. However, it did not take long before my clients began to see a different type of mentality toward their business than the previous VA’s they had worked with.

After chatting with Tina Forsyth, I began to understand my strengths are not necessarily in the implementation though my business is quite successful in the VA realm alone. But I seemed to be more energized with the prospect of becoming totally invested in my clients business on a management level. I have extensive leadership training and my natural skills and learned skills lend very well to my ability to serve my clients on a partnership level.

Prior to that, I worked 25 years for a Fortune 500 company as a rate analyst and corporate card administrator. I did some telecommuting during that time. Subsequently, I worked 10 years as a paralegal working in real estate and probate areas. Much of my real estate work was handled on-line, including funding packages and title insurance policies. My husband and I retired early and moved to Lake Lure, North Carolina. I took online classes and now work as a Virtual Event Manager. I’ve been working online since: I’ve been working online since 1999, when I began my adventure as VP of Marketing & Sales for Katronics Enterprises. During the course of this position, I operated as a virtual business manager.

Recently, I opened the doors to PRIVADA Virtual Solutions, a full service virtual assistant/business management firm. The vision for my practice is to be a premier provider of ongoing virtual business management services and to use a team approach to administrative support focusing on interior designers, construction and remodeling companies, and high-end furniture retailers. We offer a plethora of services to potential clients. From ongoing administrative support to training on certain softwares and consultation of setting up a new venture and maintenance of an existing business. My expertise is in entrepreneurship, high-end custom furniture, construction/remodeling, and manufacturing. Currently, I am working for a small roofing & construction company just until I get my VA practice off the ground with an established client base.

In September 2007, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Business Management from Kaplan University, minoring in Accounting and IT Systems. For the last 12 years, I have been working in the “brick & mortar” world as a Financial/Business Manager. After discovering this wonderful world of online business management and virtual assistance, I immediately knew this was my calling. The freedom to be my own boss and truly make a difference in the world of business is ultimately my motivation. Plus, I get to network with an abundance of like-minded people.

Also, this past October, I started AssistU and anticipate graduation in April 2010. Then, it’s the pursuit of my CPVA certification.

I’ve been working online since: The story of how I got here is long and involved. The highlights are: I have a degree in accounting and a J.D. from NY Law School. I have worked for Fortune 500 companies and was the Controller and CIO of an insurance company. I have been creating strategies, building & streamlining processes, managing projects and managing teams in corporate America for a long time.

Finally, after getting tired of working long, thankless hours, I trained as a coach. I began my solo career coaching women in IT in 2006.

Shortly thereafter, I attended a client attraction workshop and sat listening to one business owner after another complain about not being able to carry their multiple income stream ideas to fruition. I kept thinking: “Why not? What is so difficult about that?”

Then, it dawned on me that not everyone has the gift for strategy, planning, and taking action that I have been given. That is when, where & how my company, Simplify and Manage, was born.

I’ve been working online since: Nearly 20 years I have worked in the corporate world working closely with C-Level executives at a variety of multi-million dollar companies.

My skills had me managing multi-million dollar budgets, connecting with executives all over the world, managing events, dinners and organizing personal parties for my managers. I even arranged a tuxedo (which fit great) for an executive to pick up when he arrived at his location!

I found I excelled at getting people to participate in conversations and finding the answers to questions and situations quicker than anyone else in the office. I consider myself a bit of a gadget geek and I love trying out new technologies and using them to make either my clients or my life easier. I also learned that one of my natural talents is listening to others and helping them find the solutions they need to excel at what they do.

I’ve been working online since…: I’ve been working online since 2005, when Chaos to Calm was set up. Prior to that I helped set up the public equity division for London-based investment house, SVG Capital, helping to raise assets under management from zero to over £300 million. I also spent seven years as an Executive Assistant and Team Leader with UBS Global Asset Management and, prior to that, worked as an Office Manager, Events Manager, Indexer and Journalist.

During that time, I also completed a degree in psychology and a Masters degree in occupational psychology. More recently I completed a Certificate in Stress Management and obtained certification from the British Psychological Society to provide psychometric testing in the areas of ability and aptitude testing, careers and personality.

Understanding what makes business owners and their businesses tick and how to maximise their success through hands-on operational involvement is my passion.

As mentioned earlier I set Chaos to Calm up in 2005 when Virtual Assistance and Online Business Management was a less well known vocation in the UK than it is now. Over the years we’ve worked with a whole range of organisations, both virtually and onsite, from asset managers to ethical entrepreneurs and colleges. By and large, though, our focus has been, and remains on, independent consultants and small firms in the professional and financial service sectors as that is where the majority of our experience and contacts lie.

Currently, we work with our clients on both an ongoing and short-term basis and across a whole range of tasks from overall business and team management to specific projects such as online and offline marketing, web design and SEO, tendering, events, office management and VA support. Like any good OBM I have a whole range of colleagues, some who work as part of my virtual team, and other specialist partners who I call on depending on our client’s requirements.

I really just love the challenge of getting to know new business owners, understanding their requirements and where they want their business to go to, and practically helping them to get there.

I’ve been working online since: November 2001, when I started my Virtual Assistant practice. In that time I’ve seen technology change, new marketing strategies come into play, and the online business world explode!

I originally started my business as a Virtual Assistant practice, but quickly realized that I did so much more for my clients … in fact I operated as their Online Business Manager (but didn’t know this at the time). I’d been working at a high level as an Office Manager for many years so was highly experienced in business management. Today I have fully embraced the Online Business Manager role and support clients who have very successful high five-figure and six-figure businesses.

I gave up my very secure local government job in the UK at the end of 2001 because I felt a strong desire that there must be ’something better’ that I could do that would be flexible enough to enable me to put my young family first, and be around for them during the school holidays or if one of them needed me at any other time. I stumbled across the virtual assistant profession quite by accident one day whilst at work, and decided that I could do that … and so I did! Within a month of discovering the virtual assistant profession I’d handed in my notice at my local government job and ventured into the world of self-employment … and haven’t looked back since!
