My Experience, I am a: Certified OBM

My Client Intake status is: Open - I am looking to work with new clients

Ive been working online since: My first online project started back in 1996. I was part of the global team that developed the first web site for the Levi’s brand. (Yup, the jeans maker!) It was right at the beginning of when companies were figuring out how to build an online presence. It’s was the most challenging, most complex project I have ever worked on. It was amazing. After that, I enjoyed the online world purely as a consumer, until 2005. Since then I have been working with small entrepreneurial companies and have been focusing on building their online presence and their presence in the world of social media. The scope of the web sites has been smaller, but that has also allowed for agility and creative thinking.

Why I love working as an OBM: I love working as an OBM for several reasons. First I have just always liked the online world as an environment. It’s fast-paced, and full of information and that is interesting to me. I am naturally an extremely curious person so being able to go online and instantly find an answer to a question is very satisfying. From a work perspective OBM work requires creative thinking and there is alot of variety in what happens and the types of projects that might come up. I also like working with a variety of service professionals as partners to make things happen.

My Strengths and Areas of Specialty: One of my key strengths is my orientation to projects being connected to the business as a whole. In other words, asking questions to understand implications and investigating consequences so that when we execute a project we can make the outcome the best it can be for the overall business. Another strength I have is very strong research skills. If I don’t know the answer to a question or how to make something happen I will find out and I won’t be happy until there is a solid answer. One of my strengths connected to this research ability is the ability to find and identify top notch resources.

My favorite kind of client to work with is…: My favorite kind of client is a thought leader, coach or healer who is focused on serving their community, (emphasis on “service approach” as an approach to business). As far as working style, it is great to work with people who are receptive listeners and have a collaborative style of working. I appreciate relationships where mutual responsibility is valued and where the idea is that we are working together, (versus me simply working for you). I am not looking to have a “vendor style” relationship where priority is placed on me being available 24/7 to receive and execute work orders/purchase orders or projects. I value work/life balance and want to work with clients who also share this value. I also value efficiency and want to work with people who want to “work smart” more than they want to “work hard.”

My Business Goals for this year are: To find clients with shared values and work styles. My goal is to really enjoy who I work with and enjoy their business. From these positive professional relationships I want to experience the excitement of making great business results happen.
