I’ve been working online since: The story of how I got here is long and involved. The highlights are: I have a degree in accounting and a J.D. from NY Law School. I have worked for Fortune 500 companies and was the Controller and CIO of an insurance company. I have been creating strategies, building & streamlining processes, managing projects and managing teams in corporate America for a long time.
Finally, after getting tired of working long, thankless hours, I trained as a coach. I began my solo career coaching women in IT in 2006.
Shortly thereafter, I attended a client attraction workshop and sat listening to one business owner after another complain about not being able to carry their multiple income stream ideas to fruition. I kept thinking: “Why not? What is so difficult about that?”
Then, it dawned on me that not everyone has the gift for strategy, planning, and taking action that I have been given. That is when, where & how my company, Simplify and Manage, was born.
Why I love working as an OBM: I have a unique gift of studying a problem and seeing the solution form in my head. It is as if the problem is a puzzle and the pieces lift themselves off the table and form themselves into the perfect picture of a plan.
Working in the capacity of a business manager allows me to brainstorm, then to create the plan and to oversee the implementation of the tasks needed. Finally, I have the satisfaction of seeing things getting done that otherwise might never get done. Once the project is done, there is an infrastructure built to support the incorporation of the product/service into the everyday running of the business.
I have never been one to just do what is “my job.” I take pride in providing service of a quality and quantity level that is above the norm. It has been my reputation and calling card everywhere I have ever worked. Taking on the role of business manager for online businesses allows me to continue that tradition by providing unsurpassed service.
My Strengths and Areas of Specialty: Analyze the problem: I have a knock for seeing the problem and how it fits into the big picture/strategy for the business.
Plan the plan: Break the big goal into manageable chunks and determine how and when it can be put into action.
Organize the business: Take action to simplify existing processes, create new ones when they are needed, document processes, assess the skills of the existing staff, assign tasks according to skills.
Strategic Planning: Help the business owner determine where they are, develop a vision if needed, create a SPOT analysis, analyze business in context of competition and economic climate, prepare the game plan, help decide next 5 Bold Steps, finalize the game plan.
Implement the plan: Delegate tasks to staff, determine if needed skills are missing and fill the gaps, hold staff accountable and ensure that all problems are resolved to get things done.
Delight the customer: Provide world-class customer service that delights the customer and leaves them wanting to do buy from the business again.
My favorite kind of client to work with is…: My ideal client is a female coach, online business consultant, professional speaker, or online solopreneur who is passionate about their mission and clear about their desires.
She feels overwhelmed and frustrated as a result of their business growth and inability to get things done. She has need for someone to take over the planning, implementing the plan and management of their business.
She has an established business, values my expertise, is looking for a partner who can see the big picture , trusts my judgment to oversee the details of running the day to day operations of the business.
My Business Goals for this year are: My goals are simple and challenging at the same time. I am looking to do the following in my business:
- Retain balance between my work and personal life.
- Restructure my business solely as a successful OBM
- Refine my own message so that I attract my yummiest clients
- Provide world-class service to my clients, the business owner
- Become certified as an OBM
